Cruelty free makeup products

We all purchase Cosmetics in enormous quantity. While using or purchasing makeup products we often come across the term 'cruelty free' or 'not tested on animals'. Some of us often skip it while many of us are keen to find whether the makeup products that we are using are cruelty free or not.

A harsh truth of the cosmetic industry is that when a product is made, a patch test is done on the animals, so see whether the product is safe or not. In this process many animals are harmed or killed too. This process product application on the animal is very painful for them. And it has been found that the animals are not even given pain killers. .

Most of the brand’s pay for animal testing. There are some brands which make cruelty free makeup products that is the products are not tested on animals. The products are labeled as 'cruelty free' or 'not tested on animals'. Like any other species, the animals have equal rights to live like humans, so more companies should be coming up with cruelty free products. .

There are some companies who partially make cruelty free products. Whereas, on the other hand some brands don’t enclose nor keep the topic under covers but simply not mentioning that they are checked on animals. .

Brands which manufacture cruelty free products

There are some brands the products of which are not tested on animals like: Bare minerals, Fenty beauty, The Body shop, NYX cosmetics, Charlotte Tilbury, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Marc Jacobs Beauty, and Lush. .

Blending 101

A common opinion that every makeup fanatic has is, blending is the key. It’s one of the most important features of makeup application. It is something that differentiates beginners and experts. With proper blending, you can make you can make any drugstore product look expensive and vice versa. And it can make your makeup look flawless and professional without getting it done by an expert. It requires different tools and techniques to blend the makeup in different parts of the face and body.

Use a beauty blender

A cosmetic sponge is a true game changer in the world of beauty. While blending in the foundation or any harsh lines, use a damp sponge. It will soak any excess product sitting on your skin.

Buff your foundation

Once you’ve applied your foundation, the aim is to make your face look natural yet radiant and even toned. For this, take any brush of your choice, preferably a buffer brush and move it in small circular motion to gently push the product into your skin. This will give a flawless finish to your foundation

A fine layer of powder goes a long way

After you are done applying the foundation, use a light layer of powder to set it. This will allow you to blend the rest of the powder products seamlessly and easily.

Blend out the edges

The purpose of blush is to look healthy and alive. The objective is to make it look like you’re glowing from within, with no noticeable signs of where it begins and ends.

Similarly, if you’re inclined towards contouring and highlighting the face, do not forget that the dark shades close in and light shades open up. You need to blend out the edges so the colour shifts from light to dark, gradually.

Vintage meets modern at Delhi Times Fashion Week Day 2

The princess diaries
Day two of Delhi Times Fashion Week 2019 powered by Danj Entertainment at Roseate House, was all about presenting fashion must-haves this season. Motifs inspired by Mughal architecture, intricate embroidery and mix of fabrics like net and satin stood out in Orient Electric Presents Al – Indian Luxury by Leena J Singh from Ashima Leena. Long skirts with straight jackets, saris and kurtas with broad pants were part of the collection “that took its name from the Turkish word ‘Heera Noori’, which means a queen from the palace,” said the designer, adding, “It is inspired by the inlay work on domes that are a part of Mughal architecture. I have researched for six months to create this line.” Aditi Hundia, Miss Diva Supranational 2018, was the showstopper.

For fashion renegades

The young designers of School of Fashion at World University of Design presented their collection which they aptly called ‘Work in Progress’. “The designs are created by our third-year students. And the theme is ‘Perfectly Imperfect’. Our students went ahead with their designs keeping in mind that in life, nothing is perfect. We have matched things that are generally considered unfit,” said Dr Sanjay Gupta, Vice Chancellor, World University of Design.

A casual line by high street brand Madame was much appreciated by the guests. The collection boasted of muted tones and monochromes. It helps us get recognition among other brands,” said Akhil Jain, Executive Director, Madame.

Zillinie by Ahmad Ali’s menswear collection, titled Pastel Couture, is perfect for wedding and festive season. The show began with traditional sherwanis and churidaars and featured fusion designs like kurtas with asymmetrical hems paired with pants. “It was a privilege to showcase at DTFW. The collection ranged from bustier tops paired with pants, jumpsuits, long maxi dresses and tunic dresses. The Chancellor of the university, Ashok Mittal, said, “I couldn’t believe that these were creations by my students. The collection, titled Gulabo, was designed keeping beach weddings and modern brides in mind. Niki said, “The collection is for a fuss-free bride, her immediate family members and of course the bridesmaids. This show was a mix of old and new. If one noticed, the jewellery was all heirloom designs, while silhouettes were free-flowing and contemporary.”
